Getting past it

An excerpt from last week’s newsletter, in case you missed it…

Question: I’ve been hurt, and I want to get over it.  But I can’t sleep or eat or anything.  How do I get past this?

Distracting yourself can be a useful tactic.  Make sure you’re busy with friends, hobbies, work, etc.  That way, you can distract your conscious mind for a while.

Distractions can aid in creating confidence.

Of course that doesn’t always work.  In the between times, like at night before you’ve fallen asleep, emotion can creep in because your subconscious mind is more active.  At these times, it’s important to accept the emotion you’re feeling as normal and okay, realize that you do feel hurt and that’s understandable.  This simple acceptance will get you far towards getting beyond the feeling.
