Hey all! It’s father’s day today, and I’m ready to par-tay!
Every year my family gathers at a park in New Jersey (near where my grandparents live) and have a big get-together. It’s my extended family… and then some. We’re talking – grandparents’ siblings and their extended families.
This tradition had been going on for 63 years now, and I hope it continues for as long as I’m aware of things. We had a good turn out today – between 60 and 70 people.
It’s a great way to celebrate our fathers, have some fun, and (of course – we’re Italian) eat lots of food!
My dad is a fixer. He’s the one to take care of things, drive us around, and cook – and he’s the first person I call with questions about how something works or what could be wrong. This goes for cars to gutters to medicine. My dad is a fixer and a knower. He knows things.
Kahlua and I made Kyle breakfast in bed this morning to show how much she appreciates his playing and wrestling with her, and taking care of her so well.
What has your dad done for you in your life? Do you have any Father’s Day traditions?
